The Province of Ontario formed the City of Cambridge on January 1, 1973. The former communities of Galt, Preston, Hespeler, and Blair make up the current city of Cambridge. The history of the area dates back to a much earlier time.
Today, Cambridge is a modern city with a rich architectural heritage still clearly seen today. Cambridge is now the second largest community within Waterloo Region. This is partly due to our strong economy and culture.
In recognition of our past, the City maintains three unique downtown cores.
The City's vision, mission and values are at the foundation of everything we do at the City.
Our Strategic Plan also serves as a base for decision making in the City. In support of this plan, the City prepares an annual Business Plan identifying how we will meet our goals and an Annual Report that measures City achievements from the past year.
