Reporting to the Director, Electric Operations, the Manager, Line Operation will provide strategic leadership and direction to the ensure the safety and reliability of the electrical distribution system.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the personnel, operations, maintenance and construction of electrical distribution systems and streetlighting under the direction of PUC Services Inc., including out-of-town contracts through the safe, efficient, and effective deployment of available resources.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, codes and job procedures (traffic control, confined space entry, hazardous material, oil spill control, transportation of hazardous goods, proper live line procedures, work protection, etc.).
• Oversite of PUC’s Utility Vegetation Management program.
• Collaborate with Engineering to identify and evaluate OM&A and capital requirements to sustain and enhance the electrical distribution system.
• Ensure adequate departmental response to emergencies, preparation of contingency plans, and ensure adequate equipment and materials are available.
• Monitor and assess performance, operations, maintenance, and construction activities in order to develop annual and strategic budgets and plans.
• Provide analysis, reports and recommendations on all aspects of the operations as required.

Qualifications:
• A minimum of a post-secondary diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in an electrical distribution environment, with experience in a leadership role.
• A valid MEA Powerline Technician Certificate would be beneficial.
• Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience in electrical distribution operations, maintenance and construction.
• Strong knowledge of related legislation, codes, standards and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making.
• Excellent team leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
• Well-developed analytical, organizational, technical and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and with good working knowledge of other applications such as Access, Microsoft Project and enterprise software systems (Cayenta and NorthStar) preferred.
• Ability to work for prolonged periods of time and to be on-call for after hour emergencies on a scheduled basis.
• Be available for out-of-town assignments that require overnight stays.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license.
