Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after responding to a report of what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in New Hamburg.
On Oct. 13 at around 1:30 p.m., a suspicious device was discovered by members of the public near a pathway under the Nith River Bridge near Highway 7&8.
Members of the Special Response Unit safely removed the device and determined it was "meant to cause concern only", according to a police news release.
The investigation is ongoing.
