Several firearms seized during impaired driving investigation

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male with impaired driving and seized firearms after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver.

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., police received a report of a possible impaired driver after a male had left a business in Brantford.

Officers attended a residence in Cambridge and located the male driver. Officers formed grounds to arrest the male for impaired driving and placed him under arrest. During the arrest, officers located several firearms that were being transported and stored improperly.

As part of the investigation, investigators completed a search warrant at the residence and seized several prohibited and restricted firearms that were improperly stored. A loaded prohibited firearm was also located and seized.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 38-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
  • Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
  • Contravention of Storage Regulation
