Waterloo regional police are reminding drivers on National Seatbelt Day to make sure to wear a seatbelt while in a moving vehicle.
So far this year, police say they've laid 317 charges for failing to wear a seatbelt.
Failing to wear a seatbelt is illegal. Under the Highway Traffic Act, drivers can be charged and face a fine of $90 and two demerit points, plus a $20 victim surcharge for seat belt infractions.
