Police charge injured Kitchener driver with multiple offences

The driver and passenger were transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries following the Dec. 11 collision

A 25-year-old Kitchener driver who crashed his vehicle at a Kitchener intersection and injured himself and his passenger last week is facing numerous charges.

Waterloo regional police's traffic services unit say on Dec. 11, at around 2:35 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Pinnacle Drive and Thomas Slee Drive in the city's south end.

The driver and the passenger, a 23-year-old man, were both transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

On Wednesday police charged the driver of the motor vehicle with dangerous operation, failing to wear his seatbelt, speeding 156 km/h in a 40 km/h zone and two counts of stunt driving.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The man is scheduled to appear in court in January.
