Man arrested following commercial robbery in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after a commercial robbery in Uptown Waterloo.

On Jan. 6 at approximately 5:10 p.m., police responded to reports of a robbery at a store in the area of King Street South.

Through investigation, officers determined that a male suspect attended the store, selected merchandise, and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted by an employee, the male threatened to harm staff members.

Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old male was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with intent
  • Fail to comply with order
  • Attempt theft under $5,000

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
