Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Direct Action Response Team (DART) seized drugs and charged two individuals after locating a stolen vehicle in Kitchener yesterday.
Police say on Jan. 8, at approximately 6:20 p.m., DART officers located a stolen pickup Ram pickup truck occupied by a male and female in the area of Mausser Avenue and Aspen Avenue.
When officers approached, the male fled on foot into an apartment building. The female remained in the truck and was placed under arrest.
Police contained the unit the male had entered and arrested him just after 8 p.m.
As a result of the investigation, officers seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and prescription pills. Two pellet guns and two knives were also seized.
A 28-year-old Kitchener female and a 45-year-old male were jointly charged with multiple offences, including:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (five counts)
- Possess stolen credit card
- Occupy motor vehicle without consent
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The male was also charged with breach probation (two counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, operation while prohibited, possess stolen credit card and driving while under suspension.
The female was further charged with breach probation and breach – conditional sentence order.
Both accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
