Waterloo Region, Ontario- On January 15, 2022, Waterloo Regional Police charged a male driver in connection to a fatal collision that occurred in Cambridge on October 21, 2021. 

As a result of the ongoing investigation, investigators determined that two vehicles were involved in this incident. Both vehicles were travelling on Shantz Hill Road near Preston Parkway at the time of the collision.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 26-year-old Kitchener male, has been charged with dangerous operation - causing death and stunt driving.

The male is scheduled to appear in court on March 4, 2022.

Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Unit are investigating a fatal collision in Cambridge. 

On October 21, 2021, at approximately 3 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision on Shantz Hill Road near Preston Parkway. 

The driver of a white Lexus lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. 

As a result of the collision, the driver, a 25-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

Shantz Hill Road from Preston Parkway to Fountain Street South will be closed for a significant time. Hydro crews are on the scene to repair the damaged hydro pole.
