At the age of 78, Marc Villeneuve passed away in his home in Cambridge surrounded by his loving family on September 9th. For many years now, he has been living with cancer while constantly looking ahead. His will to live, his faith in God and his unwavering strength helped him push through the obstacles that stood in his path.

Originally from the small town of Manseau in Québec, he adopted Cambridge as his home as a young adult seeking job opportunities. He eventually forged himself a career and made a name for himself as a boilermaker, working and leading the way at Babcock & Wilcox for many many years.

Marc was no ordinary man! He will be remembered for his altruistic nature, always a knock or a call away with a helping hand, a plan and a solution already brewing. He was a true jack of all trades, effortlessly transitioning from woodworking to landscaping to so many other tasks, always with a meticulous touch and an eye for detail. His talents didn’t end there! He also had quite the ability to deliver speeches and tell stories. And oh the stories!

He was predeceased by his wife Rita Villeneuve, his parents Irène and Ernest Villeneuve, as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law Marie-Anne and Henri Mercier. He will be forever cherished by those he leaves behind. Dedicated father of André (Chantal Lajeunesse), Chantal (Marc LeBlanc), Natalie (Teertha Bose) and Eric. Playful and proud Papi to Marc-André, Olivia, Roch, Leah, Étienne, Kiran and Grayson. He will also be dearly missed by his partner Margaret, his sisters and brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends.

The family invites you to pay your last respects and say farewell to Marc at Coutts Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., prayers will be recited at 8:30 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place at 1pm on Friday, September 20th at St. Ambrose Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge followed by a gathering in the church hall. For those who wish to offer a donation in his name, Marc and his family suggest an offering to either of the following foundations; Myeloma Canada, The Cambridge Memorial Foundation (directed to cancer care) or The Canadian Cancer Society.
