It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Robert Thomas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 70.
Born on January 1, 1955, Doug lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. He was welcomed into heaven by his Father Clifford Thomas and Stepmom Dorothy Thomas, Mother Beatrice Barry and sister Janice. He will be remembered by his wife, Nancy Thomas, his daughters, Veronica Thomas (Jordon) and Kelly Webster (Jonathan), sister Diane Thomas, and his cherished grandchildren, Emily, Bryce, Benjamin, and Jaxon. Beloved Uncle to Cheryl, Heather, Carol, Bruce, Stephanie and Brianna.
Doug’s 30-year career as a letter carrier for Canada Post earned him the affectionate nickname “The Postman,” a testament to his reliability and commitment to his work. He touched the lives of many during his time on the job and made countless friends along the way.
Doug’s infectious laugh was one of his most memorable traits, lighting up any room he entered. A passionate football fan, Doug’s heart belonged to the San Francisco 49ers. Whether watching games with family or friends, his enthusiasm for the sport was boundless and the Super Bowl parties he held will be remembered by many.
Doug was known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel welcome, and his legacy of generosity and love will live on through his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Doug’s life will be held at The Preston Legion located at 334 Westminster Dr N, Cambridge on Saturday February 15th between 6pm-9pm (refreshments available for purchase) and all family and friends are welcome.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and loved.
