December 2, 1960 – September 29, 2024
Robert James Renton (Jr.) passed away peacefully on Sunday September 29th at Hamilton General Hospital with his partner and wife of 35 years, Stephanie Strand, at his bedside.
Robert (Rob) was an only son to parents Eileen Renton and the late Robert (Bob) Renton (Sr.) of Guelph Ontario. Brother to Susan Aram (m. Steve Aram), Kathy Constable (m. Dan Constable), and Deb Pegg (m. Neil Pegg). Fondly remembered by his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews. Missed by his many close friends.
Rob had been retired from teaching since December 2018. His career started in the trades as a qualified carpenter, framing residential homes throughout Guelph. He transitioned to teaching and graduated from the University of Toronto Teachers College in 1992. Rob’s teaching career as a carpentry and wood shop teacher started at the Maplehurst Correctional Facility (Milton, ON). He then transferred to E.C. Drury School for the Deaf (Milton, ON) and finally to W. Ross Macdonald School for the Blind (Brantford, ON).
In retirement, Rob truly enjoyed time at home lounging with his cats, cooking, bird watching and browsing through antique shops for old books on military history. He also loved to spend time with his friends at the pool hall, poker games, golfing and watching football - he was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan.
His real passion was fishing. Rob always had a fishing rod close by and was ready for any opportunity to cast a line in the water anywhere, any time.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Coutts Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.
