Peter Willem Ronald Monhemius passed away peacefully but unexpectedly in the early hours of August 10, 2024. He was 21 years old.

Peter (P-Tap) is loved fiercely by his parents, Bill and Sheri Monhemius and his sisters Lauren and Rebecca Monhemius of Cambridge. He was a cherished grandson of John Monhemius (Opa) and Nancy Hesse and Clifford Hesse of Fort Erie. Nephew to Kevin and Samantha Beam of Fort Erie and Michael Monhemius of Voorhees NJ. He was a big cousin to Andrew and Clark Beam, Michael and Addison Monhemius. Predeceased by his Grandpa Ron Beam and Oma Renate Monhemius.

Peter was a bright shining light. He was a big guy with a big heart, who didn’t often show it. He was the strong, silent type, but when he let loose, he was the absolute life of the party. His smile was enormous, he had a deep little chuckle when he laughed, his eyes always sparkling with a hint of mischief.

Peter was an animal-whisperer. All animals loved him, including his golden retriever Lily, cats Rocky, Eddie, Jade and Tousy and his collection of geckos, turtles and fish.

Peter was witty and smart and had a lot of dreams and goals. He would amaze everyone with his flexibility, Rubik's cube wizardry, and his ability to find the best nicknames for anyone or anything. He loved sports and had a natural athletic ability. He played hockey, soccer, baseball, swimming, skateboarding and football, but he loved basketball most of all.

Peter had a large community of friends who meant the world to him. He had childhood friends from Georgetown, his community on Discord and Snapchat, a large group of buddies from the Riverside Skatepark, his colleagues at Can-Tex, as well as Jaidon Gunn, Spencer Poulin and Cameron Kraeuter who were his ‘brothers’. Camp Kitchikewana and the friends he made there also held a special place in his heart. To everyone that loved Peter, we love you back, we appreciate you. Please hold a special place in your heart for him.

Friends and family will be received at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service in the chapel at 2 p.m., cremation to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Peter's memory to the Cambridge Humane Society would be gratefully appreciated.
