It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Harold Joseph MacKinnon on August 27, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.

He leaves behind the loves of his life and his very proud legacy, his wife of 44 years Jenn (Jennifer, nee Thomson), sons Marc and wife Megan Lafferty, Scott and wife Liana Whelan and their 4 children Tucker, Eberlie, Blakely and Baylor, the sparkle in their grandpa’s eye. Loving son of Isabelle and Bud MacKinnon (1988). Cherished brother of Cathy and husband Ken Boult, Wilf and wife Sandra. Treasured brother-in-law to Debbie and Mike Milicevic, Diahanne and Doug Johnston and his in-laws Ellis (2018) and Sally (2021) Thomson. He will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Harold was the ultimate ‘people person’ from his lifelong career as a Human Resource professional to his community involvement, he was an extrovert! Sports was his passion hockey and baseball, he played, he coached, he refereed, and he umpired, impacting many a young life. He loved his Blue Jays almost as much as his Maple Leafs. Golf became his midlife/retirement choice of sport and he played enough to get pretty darn good. He was a very social beast making friends, often lifelong friends, everywhere he went. He spent almost 20 years on the board of St. John Ambulance and was bestowed the Order of St. John. Truly his greatest passion though was his family, so very proud and boastful of the accomplishment of his sons and the women they choose. Blessed with 4 grandchildren, they were the apple of his eye and they loved their Grandpa to the moon and back. He will be sorely missed by so many.

Resting at Memory Gardens Funeral Home 2723 Victoria St. N., Breslau, where the family invites friends and relatives for a drop in Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 12:30pm-3:30pm with speeches and eulogies beginning at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors Canada, Nature Conservancy of Canada, or St. John Ambulance, charities all near and dear to his heart, would be greatly appreciated.

We kindly ask guests join us in honouring Harold by wearing casual golf attire, a nod to his love for the game. A cash bar will be available for those who wish to raise a glass to Harold’s memory.
