Passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, on September 23, 2024, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in Cambridge, ON at the age of 86.
Beloved husband of 52 wonderful years to Sharon.
Cherished father of Tommy Johnson (d. September 5, 2024) (Debbie), Jamie Johnson (Denise), Kathy Jamieson (Damond), Mark Johnson.
Loving granddad of Brandon (Katie), Josh (Steffie), Dylan (Hannah), and Courtney (Spencer).
Proud great granddad of Maeve, Lola, Hendrik, and Pierce.
Dear brother of Marg Dodds (Terry).
Predeceased by his siblings Ivan, Jerry, and Ken.
Ray spent most of his career as a metallurgist, working in both Cambridge and Woodstock. His early years included a stint in the Navy and time spent in a greenhouse in Orillia. A true lover of the outdoors, he found joy in fishing and gardening during his retirement. Ray was also a dedicated supporter of his grandchildren, never missing a game, and was always there to lend a hand with school and home projects. Known for his generous heart, Ray volunteered at Fairview Mennonite Home and donated blood over 150 times to the Red Cross. His spirit of giving and kindness touched many lives. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted though Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 PM, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 7975 ON-12, Orillia ON.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Please contact the funeral home for details.
