Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Luke’s Place, in her 99th year.
Joan enjoyed an active and wonderful life from her youth in rural Quebec, the Great Depression, through World War 2, her marriage with Milton, life as a military wife in Petawawa, Soest Germany, Picton, Ontario, and settling in Cambridge (Galt), retiring in Exeter, and then finally moving back to Cambridge with her son Gary and family for the past 18 years; enjoying the past two years at St. Luke’s Place in Hespeler.
She will be remembered for being so active well into her 90s, and bringing a smile to all she encountered.
Joan is reunited with her husband Milton (2002). Beloved mother of Gary Cole (Grace) and L. Alan Cole (Wanda). Cherished grandmother of Kellen Cole (Wade), Geoffrey Cole, Marshall Cole (Megan), and Ashleigh Koweczny (Pawel). Special great grandmother of Logan, Mia, Jack, William, and Weston.
Born June 4, 1926 to the late Edgar and Nelly Whalley. Dearly loved sister of Terence “Terry” Whalley, the late Richard Whalley, and the late Allan Whalley.
At this time, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at Corbett Funeral Home (95 Dundas St N) on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10am until the time of the service in the funeral home chapel at 11am with Rev. Cannon David Bowyer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council would be greatly appreciated by the family (payable by cheque or online following the link below).
