It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gennaro Cherri. He died peacefully, surrounded by family at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 30th, 2024.
Gennaro was born on February 9th, 1932 in Ripi, Frosinone, Italy. At the age of just 19, Gennaro ventured to Canada in search of opportunities, and a few short years later returned for good with his family to build a new and prosperous life in Canada. Gennaro was a hard worker with a natural green thumb; he was passionate about gardening, good Italian food and wine, and was immensely proud of his big family.
He is survived by his wife Santa, his children Tony (Paula), Roseanne, and Gloria (Deryk). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Silvia (Bart), David (Sara), Vanessa (Nicholas), Christopher (Amanda), Stephanie (Brendan), Robbie, Frances, Marinus, Leah and Alexia.
He was also blessed to meet so many of his great-grandchildren who will miss spending time with him in his garden: Thomas, Eric, Aubrianna, Abigail, Claire, Rosalie, Henry, Charlotte, Noah, Julius and Raymond.
Gennaro is predeceased by his parents Sebastiano and Santa Cherri, his brother-in-law Ruggero Chelli, his sister Lucia Chelli, and his son-in-law Mario Fioretti.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 7th 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Cambridge. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 8th 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge. Interment to follow at Marymount Cemetery, 5400 Sideroad 6 South, Guelph.
