Barnes, Elizabeth (nee John) Resident of Cambridge, Ontario formerly Merthyr Tydfil Wales passed away September 11, 2024 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph in her 86th year.
Elizabeth married Alan in 1962 and emigrated to Canada in 1966. Together they raised three children and enjoyed 60 happy years of marriage.
Elizabeth trained in nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London England and worked as a midwife and a geriatric nurse during her career. She retired from nursing at Trinity Village Kitchener Ontario (formerly St. Raphael's Nursing Home). Elizabeth was a proud member of the Order of The Eastern Star, enjoyed travel, reading, gardening, watching the Blue Jays and spending time with family and friends.
Elizabeth will be sorely missed by her children Ruth Westerveld (Gary), Jayne Sheppard (Kent) and Michael Barnes and her grandchildren Rhys, Michael and Christine. Survived by, her brother-in-law Dennis Barnes (Linda) and nephew Philip Barnes (Maxine). Predeceased her parents William and Annie Mary.
A private graveside service will take place at Parklawn Cemetery, Cambridge, Ontario.
