WHL roundup: Hvidston helps Hitmen knock off Giants 4-3

CALGARY — Connor Hvidston scored twice and Brandon Gorzynski had three assists as the Calgary Hitmen defeated the visiting Vancouver Giants 4-3 in Western Hockey League action on Sunday at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Sawyer Mayes and Ethan Moore also scored for the Hitmen (2-3), who outshot the visitors 34-28.

Cameron Schmidt, Adam Titlbach and Mazden Leslie all scored on the power play for the Giants (3-2), who went 3-for-5 with the man advantage, while the Hitmen were 0-for-3.

BLAZERS 2 WILD 1 (OT)

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Layton Feist scored at 1:53 of overtime to lift the visiting Kamloops Blazers to a 2-1 victory over the Wenatchee Wild.

Nathan Behm scored in regulation time for the Blazers (2-3), who were outshot 39-28, but got a superb performance from goaltender Dylan Ernst.

Miles Cooper scored for the Wild (2-1-2-0), who got a 26-save performance from netminder Daniel Hauser.
