Vidicek scores three goals as Wildcats claim 6-3 QMJHL victory over Eagles

CAPE BRETON, N.B. — Markus Vidicek scored three goals as Moncton Wildcats defeated the Cape Breton Eagles 6-3 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action Thursday night.

Gabe Smith, with two, and Maxime Cote had the other goals for Moncton. Goaltender Mathis Rousseau stopped 18 shots.

Andrew Brown, Joseph Henneberry and Jacob Newcombe all scored for Cape Breton while Alexis Cournoyer turned aside 26 shots.


DRAKKAR 4 MOOSEHEADS 3 (SO)

BAIE-COMEAU — Matyas Melovsky and Justin Poirier both scored in the shootout to earn the Drakkar the win. Anthony Lavoie, Alexis Bernier and Evan Bellamy had the goals in regulation for the winners while Lucas Beckman stopped 24 shots.

Eddy Doyle, Braeden MacPhee and Liam Kilfoil replied for Halifax. Jacob Steinman made 39 saves.


OCEANIC 4 TIGRES 1

RIMOUSKI — Jonathan Fauchon scored twice to lead the way for the Oceanic. Alexandre Blais and Mathys Dube had the other goals and William Lacelle stopped 21 shots.

Olivier Houde had the lone goal for Victoriaville. Gabriel D'Aigle made 39 saves.


ISLANDERS 6 HUSKIES 3

ROUYN-NORANDA — Simon Hughes and Jude Herron both scored twice for Charlottetown. Owen Conrad and Maxwell Jardine had the other goals while Nicolas Ruccia stopped 30 shots.

Samuel Rousseau, Ty Higgins and Thomas Verdon scored once for the Huskies.
