Gymnast Emma Spence was recognized for a successful season at the University of Nebraska by being selected to the All-Big Ten Conference First Team.
The selections were determined based off national qualifying scores (NQS) accumulated over the 2023 season.
Spence competed in the all-around at 10 meets and finished 2023 with 14 individual titles, including five in the all-around.
In total, 16 gymnasts were selected to the first team, with an additional 16 on the second team. Spence was one of three Huskers named to the two teams and the only to garner first team honours.
Away from competition, the Cambridge native has been active in serving the community. In 2022 she was the recipient of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her “dedication and commitment to serving the Lincoln community.”
The Huskers finished the Big Ten Tournament this past weekend in sixth place with a 3-2 record. Their wins came over Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland.
Finishing the season with a 12-10 record, the Huskers will now wait to see if they’re selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament. Their fate will be determined during a selection show this morning at 11 a.m.
