Construction is about to begin on a pedestrian and cycling access ramp between California and Myers roads to make it easier for students getting to Moffat Creek school.

Construction of a pedestrian and cycling ramp between California Road and Myers Road will close the eastbound lane of Myers Road in front of Moffat Creek Public School for the next six months starting Monday.

The project, which was originally supposed to happen last year, includes construction of a new concrete ramp with retaining walls, handrails and lighting. Noise walls adjacent to the ramp will also be replaced once the project is complete..

Construction will happen Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and occasional weekend or evening work may occur.

Myers Road between Gatehouse Road and Lisbon Pines Drive, and Branchton Road will be closed to eastbound traffic for the duration of construction.

Westbound traffic will be maintained on Myers Road during the construction.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times on the sidewalk on the north side of Myers Road. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk near the site.

The Region of Waterloo advises motorists to plan alternate routes and to expect delays in the area for the duration of construction.
