The Thanksgiving long weekend has arrived, which means its essential to plan ahead for the big day as many stores and facilities close for the holiday.
Here's a list of what the City of Cambridge has open and closed.
The Cambridge Farmers' Market is open regular hours Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The John Dolson Centre and W. G. Johnson Centre are open regular hours Saturday and Sunday, but closed Monday.
The David Durward Centre is open regular hours Saturday, but closed Sunday and Monday.
All Idea Exchange locations are open regular hours Saturday, but closed Sunday and Monday.
The Cambridge Centre for the Arts and Allan Reuter Centre are open Saturday, but closed Sunday and Monday.
The Ted Wake Centre and the William E. Pautler Centre are closed all weekend.
All city arenas are open regular hours Saturday and Sunday, but are closed Monday.
City hall, the Cambridge Fire Department, Cemetery Admin Offices are closed Monday.
Public Works is closed Saturday.
Here is the list of Region of Waterloo service changes for Thanksgiving Day on Monday, October 9.
What’s open on October 9:
- Regional of Waterloo Customer Service line open 24/7 at 519-575-4400
- Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule. Holiday service is noted on all route schedules. GRT customer service is available at 519-585-7555 (24/7) or in-person at:
- 105 King St. E., Kitchener | 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge | 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Note that customer service will be closed for lunch from approximately 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
- GRT Operations Centre at 250 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener, will be closed
- Region of Waterloo museums:
- Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum: Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- McDougall Cottage: Open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Schneider Haus: Open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Region of Waterloo International Airport
- Regular curbside collection of garbage, blue box, green bin, yard waste and bulky items. Please have items out by 7 a.m.
What’s closed on October 9:
- Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites will be closed for residential drop-off.
- All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina in Waterloo, 150 Frederick in Kitchener, 150 Main in Cambridge, airport administrative offices)
- Employment Services/Welcome Spaces (99 Regina, 150 Main, and 20 Weber)
- Region of Waterloo libraries
- Home Child Care offices are closed. For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.
- Sunnyside Home reception and administration will be closed.
- Sunnyside Wellness Centre will be closed.
- Community Alzheimer Day programs in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge day programs will be closed. Overnight stay respite remains open.
