The Region of Waterloo water standpipe on Pinebush Road holds close to 20,000 litres of water.

Starting today, the City of Cambridge will be conducting watermain cleaning in East Galt.

The program will run from Sept. 24 until mid October and could leave residents with temporary low water pressure and intermittent water loss.

"The City of Cambridge cleans water mains on a regular basis in order to remove accumulated material and maintain drinking water quality," said the city on its website.

"The program aims to optimize water quality, reducing the likelihood of discoloured water entering your home."

The city noted that during the water main cleaning period, area residents may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure, some discoloured water and short-term water loss.

Residents who live in the East Galt area, will receive a door hanger notice that will be placed on their door a few days before work begins on their street.
