Waterloo Regional Police set to swear in 14 new officers

The Waterloo Regional Police Service will be welcoming 14 new officers at a ceremony at Wellesley Community Centre on Friday.

The recent graduates of the Ontario Police College, who are members of recruit class No. 109, will be sworn in and receive their badges.

“This is an incredible moment and achievement for not only the fourteen new members of our service, but it is also special for their families and loved ones,” John Goodman, acting chief of police said in a statement. “This unique and talented group bring a wealth of experience and skill to the Waterloo Regional Police Service, and we are excited for them to serve Waterloo Region faithfully.”

The new constables have experience in various fields, ranging from child and youth work to customer service and security.

The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. and include members of WRPS senior administration, the Police Services Board , the Ontario Court of Justice, volunteers, family and friends.
