The Cambridge Shelter Corporation is calling on the community to help it collect hygiene products for the people who access its services.
With hygiene being critical to overall health, the shelter is putting together kits with various items inside, from deodorant to toothbrushes and toothpaste.
A $10 donation can provide a travel sized hygiene bag to an individual, while $25 can supply a full-sized bag of items.
Gifts of supplies are always accepted but monetary donations allow staff to provide products to meet each person's individual needs.
Back in November, the shelter received $75,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to renovate its washrooms to make them a cleaner and safer environment for residents.
Opened in 2005, The Bridges offers a year-round emergency shelter and supportive housing units to those experiencing homelessness.
Along with the supply of hygiene products, it offers a variety of services, including on-site medical and mental health support, haircuts, social and recreational programs and connections to employment with the help of other community organizations.
