Simcoe Street in Cambridge is looking a little cleaner these days thanks to the support of the community.
“Well, I’m speechless,” Jonathon Chapman, drop‑in coordinator at The Bridges said of the response he received from residents when he put out a call for volunteers to assist in the cleanup of the area.
Chapman anticipated four or five people to show up but when the day began there was over 20.
Over the course of an hour and a half, they had cleared 47 bags of garbage from the property and surrounding area.
Through four clean up days so far in 2023, staff and volunteers have collected 117 bags of trash.
