Spring break sparks spring cleaning. Now is the perfect time for families and communities to join Diabetes Canada’s annual 40 Days, 40 Items Challenge until March 24, 2024 by placing clothing and textiles, small household items, books, shoes and other gently used items into a bag or box over the next 40 days. For those who prefer to drop off their gently used items at a donation bin, Diabetes Canada accepts bags of textiles or clothing at its bins. To schedule a free home pick up or to find a donation bin visit declutter.diabetes.ca  or call 1-800-505-5525.

This is the third year that Canadians have had the opportunity to participate in the Diabetes Canada 40 days, 40 Items Challenge. For those looking to give up something for “good” the 40 Days, 40 Items initiative is a wonderful way to contribute to a charitable cause. “The 40 Days, 40 Items Challenge allows families, individuals, co-workers, and communities to come together and support Diabetes Canada. They can also give new life to their gently used goods and reduce landfill waste,” said Sean Shannon, CEO and president of National Diabetes Trust, Canada’s largest charitable clothing collection service supporting Diabetes Canada.

Net proceeds from clothing, textiles and small household items donated to Diabetes Canada helps to fund important diabetes research and supports kids with type 1 diabetes to attend Diabetes Canada camps designed with their needs in mind.
