Alison Community Centre is hosting their first in-person neighbourhood day since the pandemic at Soper Park

The summer is here and the Alison Neighbourhood community centre is taking over Soper park to bring the community together.

On Saturday June 11, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Soper Park will be transformed into a space for neighbours to connect with each other and listen to live music and enjoy other fun activities.

“The goals for Neighbourhood Day are to: Build a stronger community, bring neighbours together and celebrate our diversity,” said Jessica Kroetsch, Community Engagement Coordinator for
Alison Neighbourhood Community Centre.

Before COVID, this event would bring out approximately 500 people from the community. The community centre is hoping to see similar numbers to a pre-COVID event and really engage the people of Cambridge.

“We’re very excited to be back at Soper Park! There is something about being out in nature with everyone that just makes it feel that much more personable,” said Kroetsch. “We love that we are also able to reach families that may not have even known about the event who just happen to be at the park!”

At the event there will be face painters, food trucks, a rock climbing wall, a bouncy castle and a vendor market.

There is no fee to attend the community day festivities, but donations are being accepted.

“If people would like to donate a back to school snack and breakfast food we would be thrilled! We are looking for stuff to help with our back to school backpacks and breakfast club program,” said Kroetsch.
