The City of Cambridge has hit its deadline for the completion of the Riverside Park grandstand project.
The project was completed in December and the scaffolding surrounding the structure has been removed, the city has confirmed.
The scope of work completed includes a roof replacement, painting and addressed structural issues that had arose over time due to deterioration.
The cost for the restoration met its target budget of $437,233.
“This capital project benefits the community by furthering the City’s Placemaking objective and goal of sustainability, which are areas of focus in the City’s Strategic Plan, Cambridge Connected,” the city said earlier this year.
“Placemaking aims to provide a wide range of destinations and activities for our community. The Grandstand is a key feature in historic Riverside Park and is used in three events traditionally held there – Kin Carnival, Canada Day Celebration, and Ribfest.”
The city has said they plan on utilizing the grandstand to further their Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
