A Preston comic book shop is in the process of clearing out inventory for its impending closing.
The Hero's Tale, located at 634 King St. E in Preston, announced on its Facebook page it will close Nov. 13.
"We tried everything but we could not come up with a solution that would be in the best interest of the store," a statement on business' Facebook page reads.
"I apologize for the mixed messages about the status of the store. We were trying to find a way to make this work, but the reality is that I couldn't do it."
The store will be getting new books this week but nothing after Nov. 6, according to the statement. It also requests that customers with bins come in and pay for them.
"Just buying the books requested or reserved would help us with the transition."
A going out of business sale will be taking place. No new location is being sought.
Andrew Salter, owner of The Hero's Tale, opened the store in 2023.
The property in which it's located is listed on realtor.ca for $1,649,000 and is described as a five unit property with eight dedicated parking spots and four fully renovated residential units.
Upon closing, the listing states the "ground floor retail unit will be vacant, ideal for business or owner that wish to invest and be their own landlord."
Supporters of the store have left comments on the Facebook post.
"So sorry this is happening Andrew, but know that you helped connect a comic creator community and for that we will always be grateful," one post read.
"You did what you love to do, not many people in life can say that. As a community we thank you for bringing joy to our children's faces when they open up their comic books. You sir have done a great job. Good luck to you sir," wrote another.
