Police continue to search for a suspect involved in an early morning shooting in Cambridge.

At approximately 3:50 a.m. police received calls of gunshots in the area of Sekura Stree8t near Hespeler Road only 250 m away from WRPS South Division Headquarters.

Police have asked the community to be on the look out for a white SUV with a burnt out headlight on the passenger side to help them identify the driver.

A neighbour who lives across the street, told CambridgeToday that he was awoken by the gunshots.

"I knew right away they weren't fireworks or anything else, they were 100 per cent gun shots," said the neighbour. "There were so many loud bangs and then they stopped. It was crazy to see that here on our street."

Police were on scene to give an update into the investigation noting this was a targeted attack and there is no concern for public safety.

Const. Chris Iden confirmed that 11 shots were fired into the home and there are no reports of injuries at this time.

Iden wouldn't elaborate on why police believe the shooting was targeted, saying only that those details are part of an ongoing investigation.

The home had a visible CCTV camera outside of the home and police added that any additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.

"We are asking for members of the public if they have any additional information, please contact Waterloo Regional Police and for any anonymous information to contact Crimestoppers," said Iden.

A section of Sekura Street will be closed for a few hours while police conduct their investigation and will provide updates on their social media when it is reopened.
