A shoplifter who threatened a store employee when confronted last month is in police custody, charged with robbery.
Waterloo regional police said on Nov. 23, at around 8:30 p.m., they responded to a report of a robbery at a store in the area of Ottawa Street North and River Road East.
Through investigation, police determined that a male suspect attended the store, selected merchandise, and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted by an employee, the male threatened to harm the staff member.
No physical injuries were reported.
On Dec. 10, members of WRPS’ Robbery Team arrested and charged a 27-year-old Kitchener male with robbery in connection to this incident.
