UPDATE: Three more recipients awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal

Three more people from the Cambridge area have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

MP Bryan May say he gave out the medal to the following recipients:

Major Jordan Layden

Major Layden plays a key leadership role in both the local Army and Reserve units. As a member of The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, he is instrumental in planning large-scale military training exercises that prepare Army Reservists for domestic operations and responses to climate-related emergencies.

James Arthur Dyer

James is a Canadian and international expert on fossil CO2 emissions from agricultural energy use, as well as greenhouse gas emissions from Canadian livestock. He has identified key opportunities to reduce GHG emissions within Canada’s agriculture sector.

Mohammad Darr

Mohammad Darr serves as the Chair of the Islamic Centre of Cambridge.

This is in addition to the medals given out earlier this week:

John Florence 

Cambridge Information and Volunteer Board member, former Vice President Galt Legion Branch 121, former City Alderman and Ward Councillor, and 55 years as a small business owner in sign/outdoor advertising.

Lieutenant-Colonel Jarrett (JJ) McDonald

Participated in the transformation of Army Reserves to meet future threats to Canada. He also provides a respected voice in the development of national policy and army directives.

Dave Ottenbrite

Founder and operator of the Galt Jazz, which has doubled as fundraising efforts for the Cambridge Food Bank.

Reverend Canon Christopher B.J. Pratt

Volunteered as governor and chaplain with St. John Ambulance for 30 years. He was also appointed as the Provincial Chaplain Emeritus with St. John Council for Ontario, and created the Bilingual St. John Council for the Ontario prayer resource handbook.

Eric Bolton

Founder of the grassroots movements #GaltLove and Grand River Pride. Provides musical lessons and instruments to residents with lower socio-economic status, learning disabilities, and brain injuries through E-Bolt Music.

Ben Benninger

Served as a two term North Dumfries councillor. Ben was also involved in the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, Social Planning Council, and the Accessibility Advisor Committee for St. Mary's Hospital.

Eva Vlasov

Eva has been the Executive Director at Argus for the past 30 years. She has focused on initiatives that prevent homelessness, shelter diversion, and employment services for youth in Waterloo Region. She is also a volunteer at the Kiwanis Club of Cambridge as an Agency Representative.

Rose Bettio 

Rose is involved in the Small Steps to Success Program supporting women. She has also held the role as the Event Support and Volunteer Co-ordinator at Cambridge Self Help Food Bank for the past five years. She has also been the Volunteer Coordinator at Kinbridge Community Association for the last seven years.

Sandra Goodwin

Sandra has been a volunteer at Community Living Cambridge since 1971 and with Special Olympics Ontario since 1983 as Treasurer, Community Co-ordinator, Regional Team Coach, and a number of coaching and volunteer positions.
