Buckle up and obey the rules of the road.
A recent report from MyChoice, an auto and home insurance company, showed glaring trends for Cambridge drivers when it comes to road safety and obeying traffic rules.
Cambridge ranked 10th in the province for drivers that have an accident on their record and 12th for those who have an infraction. A total of 12.5 per cent have had an accident, while 11.03 per cent have been slapped with a driving infraction.
The data was collected from 150,000 car insurance quotes since 2020 and used a scaled approach to determine severity of incidents.
"One major recommendation that we have for Ontario drivers is to get winter tires," Aren Mirzaian, chief executive officer of MyChoice, said in a release.
"Not only will this make driving much safer for people on the roads this winter, but it’s also a smart financial decision."
Cambridge avoided being listed as one of the Top 10 most dangerous cities to drive, with Highway 24 neighbour Brantford topping that list.
The safest city on the road is Toronto, followed by North York, East York and Whitby. It was found that metropolitan regions generally had lower rates of accidents and infractions than mid-sized cities.
