NEWS RELEASE
CAMBRIDGE FOOD BANK
***********************
As spring approaches, The Cambridge Food Bank is issuing a heartfelt plea to the public, urging everyone to join forces in the ongoing battle against hunger. Historically, the spring season witnesses a decline in donations, creating a pressing challenge for the organization to maintain a steady supply of food for community members throughout the year.
In the face of economic hardships, the Cambridge Food Bank is experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand for emergency food assistance. In February 2024 alone, a staggering 1761 households sought emergency aid, compared to 820 households in February 2022 and 1267 households in February 2023 – an alarming doubling of the need within just two years.
The Cambridge Food Bank recognizes the critical role the community plays in supporting its mission and is reaching out for assistance during this critical time.
To address this urgent need, The Cambridge Food Bank is hosting two 'Stuff a Van' events where members of the community can contribute to replenishing food supplies:
Dates and Times:
- Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Thursday, March 28, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Cambridge Centre Zehrs
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact in ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.
