Throughout the month of June, Grand River Transit (GRT) is inviting customers to Ride with Pride.
To mark Pride Month, a specially designed wrap will cover a GRT bus that will pick up customers on routes in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
Pride Month is a not only a celebration of the Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning+ (2SLGBTQ+) community, but also an opportunity to reflect on the work that remains.
The bus wrap is a symbol of GRT’s ongoing commitment to providing welcoming and inclusive spaces for all riders and staff, says a news release.
“Transit is an important community service and that means we need to make sure everyone feels welcome on our buses and trains,” said Neil Malcolm, acting director of transit services.
“While we celebrate the diversity of our staff and community everyday, June provides a welcome opportunity to remind everyone we’re proud to be a part of their journey.”
GRT, as part of the Region of Waterloo, is committed to providing inclusive and equitable services for all residents of our community.
The bus wrap was developed in partnership with the Region’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion working group and the bus will be featured at community events across the Region. Throughout the month, special giveaways will also take place on board the Pride bus.
