At least four stations responded to a massive fire at a heritage building yesterday around 6:30 p.m.
The old Peter Hay Knife building has been in Galt since the 1890s, but last night it went up in flames in the early evening.

Deputy fire chief for the Cambridge Fire Department, Brad Churchill noted that the cause is still under investigation, but the property is currently vacant.
"There is currently no business operating at this location. Cambridge Firefighters were able to quickly gain fire control of the main fire," Churchill wrote in an email to CambridgeToday.
No injuries were reported and the building was unoccupied when fire crews arrived on the scene.
Churchill estimates that nearly $50,000 worth of damage occurred mainly to the ceiling and wooden joists in the building.
43 Victoria Ave. is considered a heritage property first opening in the late 1800s by Scottish immigrant and knife maker Peter Hay.
