Dog found emaciated in trailer park now up for adoption

Veida was picked up by the Cambridge and District Humane Society last month

A dog once left to die is on the mend and looking for her forever home.

When the Cambridge and District Humane Society found Veida wandering around a trailer park in June, it was the third time in less than a month staff were dealing with an abandoned dog in distress.

Described as a bulldog mix, Veida was emaciated and in need of immediate care.

"Her hip bones stick out, her ribs and spine are painfully visible and she sustained her hunger by eating asphalt," a social media post by the shelter read at the time.

"She’s weak from being malnourished and we wonder how long she asked someone to feed her."

But things are looking up.

She's since been nursed back to health and has gained much needed weight.

Now, she's in search of a loving person or family through the humane society's adoption process.

Listed as nine months old, Veida is partially house trained and "gets along well with dogs, non-reactive with cats and she is SUPER affectionate," according to the shelter's Facebook page.

The adoption fee is $450.

White Beard and Toto, the two other dogs found abandoned last month, have already been adopted.
