Extras waited to hear their cues around city hall Tuesday morning as filming for the mini-series Culprits took over the civic square lot, blocking off the entrance from Cambridge Street as curious onlookers tried to get a glimpse of the action.
The series, by British writer and director J. Blakeson, whose credits include the acclaimed Netflix film I Care A Lot, is described as a "dark and funny miniseries set in the aftermath of a heist."
The series stars Nathan Stewart-Jarrett who recently appeared in Candyman and currently stars in th HBO Max series Generation.
On King Street in Preston, the film crew set up in front of 634 King St. E. where the vacant store's facade was made out to look like the weathered storefront for Campfer & Sons Hardware. Several extras with matching umbrellas waited out a passing shower of sleet for their cues to walk down King as the camera craned across the street for a shot of the hardware store.
Next door, Luxe Touch got a new sign for the shoot; Campbell Fine Fabrics, and Jamstyle Jamaican Grocery was transformed into Prestige Dry Cleaners.
Cars parked out front were fitted with Washington State licence plates for the exterior shot.
Most of the filming in Preston Tuesday and Wednesday is taking place inside 634 King.
A splinter unit filmed a brief outdoor scene on Queen Street in Hespeler on Tuesday morning.
