As of Monday, Cambridge Memorial Hospital is reporting five COVID positive patients in hospital and ICU with an additional four patients listed as resolved but very ill still due to the effects of the disease.

CMH medicine units are currently at 100 per cent capacity with seven admitted patients waiting in the emergency department for a bed.

They are reporting their ICU, critical care, is at 79 per cent capacity and their surgery is at about 78 per cent capacity.

Staffing has become the biggest challenge for CMH.

As of Monday, they have 62 staff off due to COVID or having to isolate following COVID protocols.

CMH currently has 249 staff positions open, making staffing at the hospital even more of a challenge.

They said staffing shortages are continuing to impact all their programs, including emergency, medicine, and vital support services the hospital relies on.

A group of local health teams are collaborating this Wednesday for a Waterloo Wellington Community Town Hall about COVID-19 Antivirals.

The one hour event, starting at 7 p.m. will discuss current evidence based information surrounding COVID-19 from local doctors and pharmacists.

It will go over Paxlovid and what to do if you have symptoms. Contact the Cambridge-North Dumfries OHT online for a link to the Zoom meeting.
