The Kinsmen Soper Park Pool is being decommissioned after nearly 60 years in service. The city is seeking input on how to utilize the space.

Options on what the city plans to do with the decommissioned Kinsman Soper Park Pool space will be revealed during a Nov. 10 public information centre at the Galt Arena Gardens.

The City of Cambridge says "exciting things" are being designed to reinvigorate Soper Park and community input is needed on what type of amenity city residents want to see there.

The city began collecting public feedback on three options for the site last fall, following the closure of the 60-year-old pool, which staff said had exceeded its life span and had become cost-prohibitive for the city to maintain.

The scope of the project now goes beyond the pool area, encompassing most of the green space bordered by Marion Way, the driveway to the east side parking lot, and the path through the park. That area includes the disc golf course.

Options presented ahead of last fall's survey included ideas for building a splash pad, interactive playground, public art and gardens.

The PIC is taking place in the Alumni Room at the arena on Nov. 10 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 98 Shade Street, located on the second floor.

The same day, the city will launch a survey on EngageWR to gather feedback from the community. The survey will remain open until November 27.

Updates to the public on the Soper Park Amenity design project will be shared on EngageWR.
