A local hockey coach has taken home the 2024 ALLIANCE Hockey Coach of the Year award.

Kevin Clancy was named the recipient of the honour by the minor hockey governing body this morning.

Clancy's hockey resume spans decades with involvement at all levels and in a variety of roles.

Over the past 10 years, he's focused his efforts on developing and improving the overall programs within the Cambridge Minor Hockey Association.

His work has aimed to impact players in all facets of the game both on and off the ice, including through ice development, mental awareness, nutrition, body mechanics and contributions to society.

Clancy is currently the head coach of the U16AAA Cambridge Hawks.

This coming season will be Clancy's 14th with the CMHA and ninth as a head coach.

He also serves as a regional scout for North American Central Scouting.

The coach of the year award is given to individuals who make significant contributions to the improvement of their local associations.
