The Skills Ontario Competition took place May 1 to 3, with five Cambridge students winning medals in various categories.

Cambridge was well represented at the Skills Ontario Competition at the Toronto Congress Centre earlier this month.

Two Waterloo Catholic District School Board students won gold medals, with three three Waterloo Region District School Board students bringing home medals, including one gold.

Luke De Sousa and Grace Nakazi of Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School won gold in the Cabinetmaking and Prepared Speech categories, respectively.

From the public board, it was Glenview Park Secondary School stealing the spotlight. Max Huber won gold in Floristry and Tyler Hahn and Braydon Larsen earned bronze in Horticulture and Landscape.

The medals that were handed out were designed by Monsignor Doyle’s Reese Lombardi through her submission in the Pin & Medal Design Contest.

De Sousa and Nakazi will now move on to represent Ontario at the 2023 Skills Canada National Competition from May 24 to 27 at the RBC Convention Center in Winnipeg, Man.
