The Cambridge and District Humane Society is in the midst of planning its annual fundraising calendar and needs the community's help.

Residents are being encouraged to submit a photo of their pet to enter for a chance to win a free photo shoot and spot in the calendar. All pets are welcome, from cats and dogs to small animals, birds and reptiles.

Each pet is competing for one month in the calendar, including the cover, and winners will be selected through an online public vote on the humane society's Instagram and Facebook pages.

Upon completion of the vote, eight pets will be selected. Those picked must donate a non-refundable $30 to hold their spot and assist with the cost of the studio.

As a charity, the humane society relies heavily on community donations to cover its costs of care and programs such as the emergency pet food bank and compassion fund for emergency veterinary care.

Submissions are due by Sept. 13 at 9 p.m.
