As staggering monthly statistics mount, the Cambridge Food Bank is turning to the community to help its staff better understand the needs of those accessing its services.
People living on a low income, or anyone who knows someone who is, are being asked to complete a survey about food insecurity.
The food bank is seeking information around the level of concern people have with their ability to access food.
The short survey asks about what programs people use, what part of the city they reside in and any improvements people think could be made in the delivery of service.
A variety of programs are offered through the food bank, from emergency food assistance and hampers to workshops and activities for youth.
In 2023, 1 in 14 people in Cambridge and North Dumfries visited the Cambridge Food Bank, higher than the provincial average of 1 in 19.
