The Cambridge Food Bank is rolling into the Walmart on Pinebush Road Saturday to try and replenish its stock of food for those in need.
A van will be set up in the parking lot accepting donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents are being asked, if they're able, to purchase some of the food banks most needed items and drop them off as it attempts to fill the van.
Sandwich spreads, peanut butter, cereal and oatmeal are all in high demand.
Recent statistics from the beginning of the year show food insecurity is still a concern within the community.
In February, the food bank served over 1,700 households. It represented an almost 30 per cent increase over the same time last year.
Over the first two months of 2024, children visits increased by 47 per cent, a total of 3,500 hampers were distributed and there was a 50 per cent increase in working families accessing the food bank.
All data was analyzed in comparison to the same time period in 2023.
