A great idea: Celebrate 100 years of Hespeler Carnegie Library Building

Idea Exchange is throwing a centennial party to celebrate 100 years of the Hespeler Carnegie Library Building on Saturday, June 24 and of course the community is welcome to attend.

“It is very exciting to commemorate 100 years of public library service in Hespeler,” said Idea Exchange CEO Chrissy Hodgins in a news release. “This is our chance to celebrate the generations of community members who have utilized this building for learning, exploring, connecting with others, and developing a sense of self. Idea Exchange is proud to continue this legacy.”

The community is invited to this free event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Idea Exchange, Hespeler, 5 Tannery St. East, Cambridge.

The day will be filled with heritage-themed activities and games for kids, self-guided tours highlighting building features, and more.

Event Highlights

  • 10:00 am: The Relative Minors perform
  • 11:30 am: Celebration Remarks
  • 12:30 pm: Galt Kiltie Band perform
  • 2:00 pm: Hespeler Ukulele Group perform

The Carnegie Library Building in Hespeler has seen many changes in years since it opened, most notably the award-winning renovation in 2007 that expanded the size of the building, while maintaining the original structure, the release added. Idea Exchange, the public libraries and public art galleries of Cambridge, has five locations, supporting and inspiring its community in the exploration of reading, arts, innovation, and learning.
