Bryan May Member of Parliament of Cambridge


Bryan May is the Member of Parliament for Cambridge, North Dumfries, and North Brant, and currently serves as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business and to the Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

Elected in 2015, PS May has served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence and as a member of the Standing Committee on National Defence. He has chaired both the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, and the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs. He has been a member of various parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs, and the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

PS May is deeply involved in various parliamentary caucuses and groups. He has chaired the Liberal Nuclear Caucus since 2019 and the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group since 2018, and also served as the Chair of the Liberal Auto Caucus from 2018-2021.

Before his election to the House of Commons, PS May served in senior management roles with various non-profit organizations including the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, and the University of Waterloo. Bryan served on the committee for the Oxford Active Living/Youth Action Plan, was a member of the Y Service Club, and was the Executive Treasurer of the Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries— an organization focused on collecting, analyzing, and openly sharing data to strengthen community with the goal of eliminating poverty.

Bryan’s volunteerism in Cambridge includes coaching baseball as well as long-time membership with numerous charitable organizations. Bryan earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo and lives in Cambridge with his wife and two children.
