The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team is hosting a pop-up pap test clinic for anyone between the ages of 21 and 70 with a cervix who doesn't have a primary health care provider.

The clinic will operate at the Waterloo Region Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic, at 13 Water St. N. from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 30.

The Canadian Cancer Society says a pap test is mainly used to screen for and help diagnose precancerous conditions of the cervix and cervical cancer, but other conditions can be diagnosed from the procedure.

It involves a gentle scrape of the surface of the cervix to pick up cells.

Pap tests are recommended for anyone between the ages of 21 and 70 who has been sexually active and has waited three or more years since their last screening.

Bus tickets to tomorrow's clinic are available from the Kinbridge Community Centre and free childcare is available on-site.

No appointment are necessary and walk-ins are welcome.

A translation service is available.

A valid health card is required.
